Kodiak came to us as our first Shiloh in early 2007 at 8 weeks old from Babbling Brook Shilohs. We had been researching large breed dogs for a long time trying to decide which would be the perfect dog for us. We knew we wanted a large breed dog, but were very discouraged by the more common breeds we looked into. After meeting our cousin's Shiloh, Sundance, we were hooked. A Shiloh it is!!!!
Kodiak instantly won our hearts along with everyone he met. He was a large fuzzy bundle of love. We quickly enrolled him in puppy kindergarten. Every week we were amazed at how fast he picked up on just about anything we asked of him. Even his trainers were quick to say how smart he is. He would quickly become bored with a task and we had to move on to the next command or trick. With Kodiak, life is all about fun and games. If he is having fun......then in his eyes life is good! This months contest theme was perfect for him. We took Kodiak to a NAKC show at Matamoras PA as spectators. We were in awe at seeing so many spectacular Shilohs. At the time, it was hard to imagine our little puppy was going to grow into such a big dog! Several people came up to as asking about Kodiak and encouraged us to enter him into future shows. We decided to give him a shot at 6 months. We had never shown a dog before and had no clue what to do, but all the wonderful Shiloh owners got us going.
He is now 2 years old and is the 2008 SSBA Grand Victor. Again, he just continues to excel at everything we ask of him. He is now actively working as a Therapy Dog at a local residential school for mentally and physically disabled boys. He met his first student last week and the boy instantly fell in love with him as did Kodiak with the boy. We are now owned by 3 Shilohs. Bailey who we adopted at 18months of age out of Bearpaw Shilohs and Ty who is 14 weeks old from Mt Airy Shilohs. Like they say "You can't have just one".
