Bailey was born on February 22, 2006 at BearPaw Shiloh's and is a Venus/Kit Puppy.....Miss Lavender.

Bailey came to join our family only 2 short months ago at the young age of 18 months. She is a Shiloh Shepherd Gray Sable Smooth Coat. She was returned to her breeders by her prior owners because they had 2 Brussels Griffin and they were afraid due to her large size and playfulness that she would hurt the small dogs.

Dawn from BelleGrace Shiloh's had posted an announcement on the Shiloh Message Board that Bailey, a 90 pound spayed female, was available for rehome adoption and the reason she was given up. Immediately, when we read her story, our hearts broke for this sweet girl. Though we still do not understand how her prior owners could give her up like that, we felt that all she needed was some real love and understanding and perhaps a little extra training. A real second chance.

I knew how badly my husband, John wanted to take Bailey into our home. Yeah, I wanted her just as bad, but he's a softy for a sweet face! But John was a little apprehensive to take the plunge. What if she didn't get along with our Shiloh puppy Kodiak. I filed the application on the Rescue/Rehome page of the ISSDC web site hoping to surprise him if and when we were chosen to be her forever family. The next day, John and I were talking and he said go ahead and fill out the application. Heeheehee......I already had!

A few days later, we got a phone call from one of her breeders wanting to know if we were still interested in her. Still interested????????? "YEAH!!!!!" So, that next weekend we drove 400+ miles each way to pick up Bailey at BelleGrace Shiloh's. When we got there, she was a little nervous but I think she knew how much we were going to love her and immediately she became "Daddy's Girl" which she still is.

What we got was a gorgeous, loving, affectionate, playful, well mannered, friendly addition to our family. She came fully housebroken, very well mannered, and quite willing ready and able to withstand the never ending play sessions with our 9 month old Shiloh male Kodiak. They truly are a match made in heaven. She needed a home where she could be herself and not get in trouble because of her size and Kodiak needed a playmate to help burn off some of his seemingly endless puppy energy.

She is so incredibly smart. She quickly learned that dogs and cats can cohabitate together peacefully. She learned our house rules and what her expected manners are in no time. She happily travels with our family to the Rarities NAKC Dog Shows here in the North East as Kodiak's personal cheerleader and she has made so many friends there. Though it has only been about 2 months that Bailey has been a part of our family, she has melted and won our hearts.

Our plans for Bailey in the future include her starting Obedience School this coming Monday night. We are going to be working on getting her CGC & TDI hopefully next spring as we hope to have her work with Cancer Patients at a nearby Cancer Hospital. She is quite gentle and listens so well I think she would be a big help especially for the sick children.

All in all it was a match made in heaven and we are eternally grateful to Dawn at BelleGrace Shiloh's and Nancy at BearPaw Shiloh's, along with the ISSDC Rescue/Rehome program to choose us to be Bailey's Forever Family.
