Our first Shiloh Shepherd, Paul's HarryCarey of Paragon had her name before we had a puppy. Had it been a male, the call name would have been "Harry" because of my husband's fondness for the Chicago Cubs' longtime announcer, Harry Caray. But since we got a girl pup she became "Carrie" in honor of his favorite aunt.
Carrie was with us for too few years, but they were wonderful years. She had the deepest soul of any dog I have ever been privileged to share my life with.
Sweet-natured, gentle, talkative in a "Katherine Hepburn" style, and as she matured she acquired a silly aspect to her personality that would make me laugh out loud.
She loved running through our woods and swimming in our creek as well as just sitting quietly on the couch with me. She learned to negotiate the agility apparatus that we built and had a brief career in sheep herding and wilderness SAR training. But she developed EPI at 2 years of age and our focus turned to regaining her health.
The "Oldies but Goodies" photo was taken the day before she left us, and I think it reflects the true beauty of her heart and spirit.
